Tiger Woods Clinches President’s Cup

Tiger Woods avenges his lost to Y.E. Yang in the PGA Championship to help the U.S. team clinch the 2009 President’s Cup. Tiger was asked after the match did he know that his putt was the clincher. He did not know that his putt was the clincher, he was so focused on winning his match. Tiger Woods beat Y.E. Yang 6 and 5, which means that they had 5 holes to go and Tiger was up 6 holes, so Yang had no chance to catch Tiger. Y.E. Yang did not sound as if he wanted any part of Tiger Woods as he was asked about the match prior to playing the round of golf. Yang said that he will show up, but is not particularly interested in playing against Tiger Woods.

Tiger Woods and Steve Stricker beat Y.E. Yang and Ryo Ishikawa on Saturday 4 and 2. In the final two days of the President’s Cup, Tiger handled Yang with no problem. Tiger Woods is only the fifth golfer to go 5-0 during the President’s Cup, he continues to confirm he is the best golfer in the world. Phil Mickelson has had a good comeback with the Tour Championship and he had a undefeated record in the President’s Cup of 4-0-1, which secures his number two ranking. Tiger Woods won 6 times in 2009 and won the FedEx Cup Championship, which brought him a cool $10 million dollar paycheck.

It appears that Tiger Woods has topped $1 billion in career earnings, not just from prize money but also all that loot Nike, Gatorade, Tag Huer and other advertisers pay the golf star, plus income from his golf design business and lofty appearance fees. Tiger Woods is third with 71 All-Time Career PGA Tour Wins. 2009 has been one of the most consistent years on the PGA Tour for Tiger Woods. He won six times, finished second three times, placed in the top 10 in 14 of 17 starts, contended in three of four majors and had his third-lowest scoring average at 68.05. After knee surgery in 2008 no one could have don’t think foreseen such a successful season.

Y.E. Yang of South Korea, the first Asian player to win a major title. Y.E. Yang beat Tiger Woods by 3 strokes at the PGA Championship on Sunday, August 16, 2009. Tiger Woods’ had been unbeaten with a lead entering the last round of major championships finally until that ended Sunday at wind-blown Hazeltine National Golf Club. Prior to Sunday, Woods was 14-0 when leading after 54 holes.

You may be asking why am I writing about golf on a blog that is about Personal Development, Home Business and Living a certain Lifestyle. I am a golfer myself, I believe that playing golf and being an entrepreneur have many similarities. To be successful in my business, one has to believe in themselves, be patient, visualize the expected outcome and recognize that no matter what, there is no time to get attached to any potential customer or associate. In golf, Y.E. Yang did the unthinkable and beat Tiger Woods because he believed in himself, he was patient throughout the four straight rounds of golf, he stated that “I’ve sort of visualized this quite a few times playing against the best player, if not one of the best players in the history of golf, playing with him in the final round in a major championship, always sort of dreamed about this. I’ve seen throughout Tiger’s career that a lot of players have folded probably on the last day when playing with him.” Yang had an eagle on the 13th hole, which was the turning point of the round, he did not get attached to that shot, he played to win and did just that.

Tiger will be back to his winning ways. Yang admitted “so was I intimidated, yeah, I guess I was a bit.”

Golf is relaxing, enjoyable and makes you humble. The same can be said about owning your own home business. The two have many similarities as I have played golf for over 15 years and have owned my own home business for 21/2 years. “I get to play golf for a living. What more can you ask for – getting paid for doing what you love.” stated by Tiger Woods. How many people settle for what someone offers them versus pursuing what they want. We know that people work jobs for a paycheck, which happens to be the only time they find enjoyment with the job. In most cases people are working paycheck to paycheck, no time for vacations or to buy something nice for special people in their lives, no room for emergencies. We all know people that live their lives that way. What makes Tiger Woods the best golfer in the world?

Tiger Woods states, “I love to play golf, and that’s my arena. And you can characterize it and describe it however you want, but I have a love and a passion for getting that ball in the hole and beating those guys.” That says it all, we are on this planet for a period of time, most people take that time for granted, not realizing that yesterday is in the past and you will not see that day again. Woods won 11 tournaments in 2000, nine on the PGA Tour, one on the PGA European Tour and the PGA Grand Slam. In addition, Woods and David Duval won the World Cup team title for the United States. He earned $9,188,321 on the PGA Tour ($11,034,530 worldwide) and broke the PGA Tour record of $6,616,585 which he set in 1999.
Tiger increased his record total on the PGA Tour career money list to $76,579,376 through 2007, and had won $94,038,162 worldwide.

“One of the things that my parents have taught me is never listen to other people’s expectations. You should live your own life and live up to your own expectations, and those are the only things I really care about it,” stated by Tiger Woods. Live your own life, you have control, your thoughts will become things. I played sports for years, including at Northwestern University in the Big Ten. Football was something I enjoyed playing. I realize years later, that love of the game should carry into life. If you want to own your own home business to create time, freedom and a income you have not experienced, it’s possible, you are a simple choice away.
